handmade cigars. The quality and variety of Cigar tobacco from the Dominican Republic has improved enormously in the past 20 years. The primary growing region is near the city of Santiago in the northern half of the country. Although its cigar making tradition is very old, the production boom started in the 1960's with the US embargo on Cuban products. |
