The first time the Weisenhof was cited in a document was in the year 1786. Even then -- as in most Black Forest farms -- fruit was distilled to make liquor. The liquor produced was for individual consumption and was also an important part of every family's medicine cabinet. Excellent climatic conditions combined with centuries of experience in the
secrets of the art of distilling have made the Black Forest into a natural home
for fine white brandies. The sun of Baden and the nutrient-rich earth make the
fruit thrive especially well. We use only specially selected fruit. These are carefully fermented and distilled by experts.

Since the founding of the company, the motto of the Elz Valley Distillery Georg Weis has been, "We make what we can do best." And that is processing and distilling premium Black Forest fruit to make fine fruit brandies and producing tasty liqueurs. In the friendly atmosphere of our family business, 30 specialists are responsible for keeping the customers of our company satisfied with all our products and our attentive service.
Georg Weis
A young man who loved nature and its gifts, at the tender age of 15 Georg Weis brought the old family recipes to light again and began to produce clear fruit brandies. At the time, his father Andreas Weis was a soldier far away. Georg delivered his brandies with his motorcycle, and soon they were popular throughout the whole region. What Georg Weis had begun as a second source of income in the difficult times of WWI, soon became the main source of income for the family farm. When he came of age, Georg Weis had long known what his life's work would be: in 1924, the Elz Valley Distillery Georg Weis was officially founded. The traditional farmstead was transformed slowly but surely into a modern company.
