The Quesada family has been a part of the tobacco world for over a century. When they first arrived in Cuba from Spain they were bakers. It was in the mid-1880s that they began their tobacco business when a debt to the family was paid with tobacco.
Matasa is one of the oldest companies in the Dominican Republic dating back more then 30 years. Their heritage can be traced all the way back to Pre-Embargo Cuba with their famous and world renowned Fonseca brand which was brought to the Dominican Republic in 1974.
